Gossip! Draft Four

https://youtu.be/N7cZLN1rpUI

For this draft we listened to the feedback we received and applied the improvements to our film. We re- recorded the dialogue from the first scene and dubbed over the footage we already had edited. We have layered some subtle music underneath the beginning of the sequence to add more rhythm and make the first scene more upbeat.

Feedback from Draft Three

After watching our teen-angst in class, this is the feedback we received.

Strengths:
  • The editing, split screens and the three jump cuts in one shot.
  • The conversations over the phone worked well.
  • Cross cutting between locations to show the conversations.
  • Good titles -they fit the genre.
  • The narrative is very clear.
  • Good establishing shots at the beginning.
  • Well fitting music choice.
Things to improve upon:
  • There could be subtle music under the first scene to add more rhythm.
  • The first audio clip is bad quality because of the wind. Re film or dub over.
  • Music underneath the 'getting ready' sequence could fade out more smoothly.
  • Make the editing more sharp, for example: the shot of Brittany  putting her shoes on could also be edited into three quick jump cuts.
  • Take out the rain from under the talking that happens indoors.

Feedback from Draft 2

From the feedback we received we have learnt that we will need to add mood music under the beginning and end of the film. This will add rhythm and will stop the film from having any silent moments.
Subtle music will make the film less awkward in between dialogue and sound effects.
Mood music at the end will increase the tension and the film will be more dramatic at the end.

More sound effects will need to be added to make the scenes feel more real, for example, phone ringing.

We also need to add all the credits to draft two and all future edits of the film. This is including director and producer.

Character's Party Outfit Analysis

Brittany's party outfit consists of a black dress, black tights and heels. She is wearing some red lipstick and red accessories which connotes that there is hidden danger and she is not to be trusted.
Her outfit is short and she is wearing heels to suggest that she is quite a party girl and is dressing to impress. This can imply that she is more worried about social status than grades or friends.

Jinx's party outfit is made up of just a plain, simple white dress. This suggests that Jinx is very straight forward and what you see is what you get. She is innocent and very naive.

Jinx is almost the complete opposite of Brittany as she cares about her friends as well as how she does in school. We can see this as Jinx is shocked when Brittany doesn't turn up as she is not used to going to parties or being ditched by friends.

Actor changes

Due to actors not being able to be filmed when needed for the draft and the final project, we have decided to change who plays these roles. The roles that needed to be filled were: Roxanne and the guy that we see with Brittany with instead of being at the party. We have cast Millie Todd to play Roxanne and Rachael to play the guy. We will only see part of Rachael in the film so it will not be obvious that it is her.

Production Company Logo Comparison

Different production companies have different logos based on their specific genre. This can inform the audience of the type of film they're about to watch before the film is even revealed.

For example.

Woodshed is a production company that produce horror films. Their logo conveys the genre successfully as it has been made out of monochrome colours and has lots of sharp edges. This creates a dark mood as there is no colour we feel uneasy and know they don't produce bright and happy films. The jagged and pointy edges connote violence and horrors are often associated with this.

Another example of genre specific production logos is the Walt Disney logo. The castle in the background of the logo connotes to the audience that the films are fantasy and fiction. The font that is used for the title furthers the genre as it looks fancy. This could represent the princess elements within the films.

There are lots of different versions of the Disney logo, where some include colour. This suggests that the films they produce are uplifting and happy. This also tells the audience that the films are child friendly and mainly aimed at a younger audience.

We have analysed these examples of  production company logos to further our reasons for having a logo that can be used for lots of different genres in the film industry.

Filming Schedule

We will make a list of the days that we will be filming. We will write who we are going to film with and what scenes we will be doing and when.

Credit Fonts and Titles

The credits will be written in the same colour as the title gossip so everything is matching and suits the teenage target audience.

Actors names are going to be in a wavy font with the start of the first name and forename in capitals and the rest in lowercase font, it will not be layered but the names of the characters will be in bold and the same as the title to show that they are part of the story and made up like the film. The main characters will be bigger and more eye catching as this will help the audience know how is the most important.

The main characters names and who they play will appear on screen as the characters appear. Their real names will fade in first and then their characters name. Bryony's name will come up first on the bottom left hand side of the screen and fade out. Jenna's name will appear second in the bottom right corner.

The characters that do not appear until further on in the sequence will still have their names at the beginning as extras and they will be in the girly font.

Because we have had to change the actors, different names will be written as below:

Our Production Company Logo

We have designed this logo to be in dark, monotone colours. This is so that it does not take any attention away from the main logo of the film. The logo is minimalistic which means that it isn't fixed to one genre. For example: if the logo was pink and girly, the company wouldn't be making a horror film. Our logo is made out of arrows and the letters are placed to look messy. The arrows within the word creates a play on words and the logo look more interesting an edgy.

Gossip! Draft Two

We have re editing the first lot of footage and added sound and some titles. We will write about how we will change and improve this draft.
